Studio Safety & EtiquettE

Contagious Precautions:

Clients with any cold/flu symptoms such as a runny nose, persistent cough, fever etc. have the option of attending sessions VIRTUALLY. Since you/we can't distinguish between what is an allergy vs a virus, your understanding of why this policy matters is important - thank you!

Likewise, if you have been in close contact with someone who has a viral infection or presents with symptoms, please choose virtual or re-schedule. (This policy will likely change when we get past cold/flu season this year.)

Please notify us immediately if you have been to the studio after an exposure.

What to Wear:

For safety, clients must wear exercise-footwear such as "toe socks" or other options that provide traction.

Re: clothing, comfort always - and please avoid hoodies so your instructor can better observe your alignment.

Thin layers help clients adjust to room temperature or body temperature fluctuations.

A clip/band to pull-up longer hair off face and neck. If shorts are worn, the leg openings should fit close to the leg so as not to gap when lying down.

Note: the Studio is a glitter/rhinestone-free zone. Those lovely little bits of sparkle are impossible to get out of equipment pads/mats. If glitter is a part of your life (teachers etc...) please take extra care to de-bling before arriving. :-)

Lotions & Fragrance:

Please postpone using any creams or lotions on the legs hands and feet until after your Pilates sessions. Those lovely products can make for slippery connections to mats and/or equipment, and are difficult to clean off. Some even damage upholstery.

In addition to my clients who are cancer patients w/fragrance sensitivities, in general many people are sensitive to scents; kindly refrain from using ANY fragranced products which carry the scent beyond very close contact) before coming to the studio.

Third-hand Smoke:

Defined by the Mayo Clinic and others as the odorous residue of toxic chemicals remaining on hair, skin, clothing, etc. after exposure to smoking tobacco or other substances. Though the lingering residue may not be apparent to those regularly exposed, to others (in part, including clients with asthma, young children, those undergoing chemotherapy, pregnant, etc.) such exposure raises genuine concern. Please refrain from bringing third-hand smoke to the studio.

Electronic Devices:

During Pilates, phones and other devices should be on silent. Pilates sessions are a time for you to focus, breathe, and be in the moment. By all means, if you have the infrequent and urgent need to take an important call you are anticipating, it's great to keep your phone right by you (on silent) during your session.

Note with a smile:

Students have been known to experience some disorientation if not separation anxiety due to this completely unfamiliar, relaxing tech escape :-)

Financial Policies

Purchased Sessions/Classes Expirations:

All expiration dates for sessions/classes are fixed. Various sizes of packages are helpful in working with your calendar for vacations and other life events.

With the RARE exception of an unavoidable emergency, a minimal 24-hour advance notice is required to change or cancel an appointment without being charged the full fee for that session. In general, please expect that any missed session without a minimum of 24-hour notice will be charged the full session fee.

All appointments may be cancelled by leaving a phone or email message or logging into the online MINDBODY scheduling program; the time of your message will be noted as within the 24-hr minimum.

Duets - Special note: Both parties in a scheduled duet semi-private session are responsible for canceling their appointment within 24 hours, or it is assumed that individual who has not cancelled is indeed planning to attend as a private session. Under such circumstances of a rare, infrequent short notice, a conversion to a private session will be offered the discounted rate of "converted to private" at an additional $21 for that session. (Frequently changing duet sessions to discounted private session may suggest the need to choose a different scheduled time to allow for more consistent duet attendance. The Instructor reserves the right to redirect scheduling if, in their sole judgement, the previously scheduled time slots have not proved to be consistently attended.) Duet partners are responsible for directly contacting one another to inform one partner of the other's scheduling conflict.

All pre-paid sessions are fully transferable, with 24-hour notice, but are not refundable. You may apply the price of any pre-paid session towards another class or session. You may also decide to allow a friend or family member to use your pre-paid session(s), based on the instructor's approval for which type of session is appropriate for the substitute client. If your substitute client is new to the Studio, the first session must be a New Client Asessment, and will be billed against any balance.

(Duet Sessions have special considerations - see above.)

STUDIO ORIGIN reserves the right to cancel any class due to an unavoidable emergency or challenging weather conditions. In such an unavoidable event, your instructor will make every attempt to cancel with at least 24-hour notice.
